FAQ’s
Q. Is there any funding available for my start up business?
A. Rarely do lenders invest in start-ups. They usually require 3 years of history operating a business. I suggest they solicit investors to get started, or contact the Philadelphia Department of Commerce. They can also contact our local bankers for assistance.
Q. Do you know anyone who is hiring right now?
A. While we may not always know who is hiring, many local organizations maintain large databases with information on local and regional businesses who may be hiring.
Q. Are you still planting trees in the neighborhood?
A. OARC along with the Fairmount Park Commission will begin to plant trees in April of 2012.
Q. Where can I find affordable housing?
A. OARC's housing counseling subsidiary, West Oak Lane Community Development Corporation, can point you in the right direction for all of your housing needs. Please Call 215-224-0880 for more information.
Q. Where can neighborhood youth find employment?
A. State Representative Dwight Evans' office is an excellent place to begin your search. His office can provide you with the information and resources you'll need.
